Issue by Patti: What salad dressing really should I use for these components?
Romaine lettuce, Coconut shavings, Mandarin Oranges and sunflower seeds. I experienced the salad prior to and I would guess it was a raspberry vinaigrette. If you feel one would flavor far better permit me know! Thanks!

They look good and taste the same as when they came from Japan but now they are from China. I am having misgivings about food from China given their poor government control over food quality.

We like to have some long-shelf-life foodstuffs so we can improvise meals at times when getting to the food market is difficult. We store cases of beans, veggies and some prepared meals in our pantry shelves. Some of the items are canned or dried fruit and one of them is a case of Festival Mandarin Oranges in light syrup. We purchased the case at our local Costco store and the case is now about three quarters finished. These mandarin oranges are delicious. They're very flavorful and I like the light syrup which makes them much less sweet than many canned fruits. I enjoy them as snacks now and then. An entire can is less than 200 calories. My wife and toddler like them too. We all like them best chilled so you'll generally find a can in the fridge. It's a very good product.

We have these chilled for dessert after Chinese food. It's always possible to find a few cans stashed away in the fridge for just such occasions -- very handy!

Every single holiday getaway my grandmother utilized to make a salad of bananas, manderine oranges, pineapple and other stuff in a creamy whie dressing. I know it was not Tahitian or ambrosia salad but somehting diverse doesn aybody know the name or better nevertheless the recipie?

Response by atomictulip This is a recipe for Ambrosia Salad. The bananas are not detailed in this one particular but you could just add them in. I would add about 1 cup of bananas to make this like your grandmother’s.
1 cup coconut
one cup mandarin orange segments, drained
one cup crushed pineapple, drained
1 cup sour cream or lemon yogurt
one cup miniature marshmallows
Merge all substances except marshmallows chill for many several hours.
Add marshmallows proper just before serving.
Also good with chopped pecans additional!
Note: the first recipe had you mix the marshmallows in at the very same time as the other ingredients, but I favor to include them afterwards as said to preserve them from obtaining mushy.
