It’s nice to have a pie quickly when unexpected guests arrive. When you don’t have time to create the crust from scratch, use a quality pre-made mix. Add a few tablespoons of sour cream to make the crust flaky so no one will notice that you didn’t create the pie from scratch.

To prepare for the meal that you are going to cook, make a comprehensive list of everything that you are going to need to cook your meal when you go to the supermarket. This will allow you to stay as organized as possible so there is no part of your meal that you leave out.

Keep a potato masher in your kitchen at all times. This useful device can be used to mash more than just your typical potatoes. Try mashing carrots, cauliflower, and other root vegetables. You can mix any of these in to your usual mashed potatoes to make them more vibrant, nutritious, and interesting.

Make sure you are storing your spices in the right place. Many people store their spices right above their stove or near a light source. To stay fresh, put them in dry and dark spot that is cool. Humidity can also destroy spices so keep those several factors in mind.

Salt and pepper are two of the most important ingredients that you can add to your meal when you are cooking. If something does not taste salty enough, make sure to add extra salt in order to avoid a dull taste to your food. Sometimes, it is better to have too much salt than none at all.

You should always organize your cooking supplies. If they are not properly organized, you will wind up rummaging around to find what you need. Group similar items together, and keep them in the same area. For example, you want to organize your spices such as parsley and basil in one cabinet.

If you are going to braise meat, cook it at a low temperature for a long period of time. By doing it this way, the meat will stay tender and it will retain its juiciness, which in turns, leaves the meat tasting good. Cooking it a high temperature can dry the meat out.

Cooking is a fun and exciting skill to learn, and the tips you’ve just read, will be instrumental in helping you along the path. Just by reading this article, you are well on the way to creating inspired and delicious food for your family and friends, to enjoy from home.

Ginger roots can be used for several dishes so it’s worth learning how to store them. For a few days you can just put them in the refrigerator’s vegetable drawer. For a much longer storage, freeze the unpeeled ginger root and cut the piece you need while it is frozen.

If you have a lot of pets around the house, they should not be with you in the kitchen, if the stove is near the ground. This can present a safety hazard because you want to reduce any risk of your animals getting hurt. Keep all animals and small children away from hot ovens.

In the interests of eating sensibly and losing weight, it is essential to use less oil when cooking. Lots of unnecessary, and unhealthy, fats sneak into meals made with oils and butter. Nonstick cooking sprays are a great substitute which ends up giving you the same result except in a healthy way, as opposed to the oil which is unhealthy.

To avoid getting overwhelmed when preparing a dinner, make preparations a day in advance. Marinate your meat or cut up the vegetables ahead of time. You’ll be less stressed when cooking the following day.

You should try and dry your tomatoes on your own. To be able to dry them yourself, cut the tomatoes half an inch thick, or you should cut Romas lengthwise in half. Take a cooling rack and place the tomatoes on it. Sprinkle them with salt. Next, the tomatoes need to spend about 10 hours in an oven set to 190 degrees. Put a cookie sheet under the rack before it goes in. Store in plastic bags in the freezer. You can put the dried tomatoes with fresh herbs in a jar with olive oil to preserve them. Refrigerate and use within 2 weeks.

When cooking burgers, no matter what the type of burger, it is important to only flip it one time in order to retain all of the juices. If you don’t do this your burger will most likely end up dry and will resemble a hockey puck! Don’t let that happen to your burgers.

Stop guessing on the taste of your meatballs and loafs. Take your mixture of meat and seasonings and fry up a small hamburger so you can get a taste of how your meatloaf or meatballs will turn out. This way you can add more seasonings or tone them down by adding more meat.

Now that you’ve got some basics and some insider secrets down, you can’t help but have the confidence to start your adventures in cooking. Follow the tips that you have learned here, and you will soon be receiving high praise not only from loved ones, but also from your fellow want-to-be cooks.

While it is easy to just grab a spoon to scrape prepared, wet cake mix from the mixing bowl to put into pans for baking, do yourself a favor an invest in a good rubber scraper. A rubber scraper is made to be pliant, is curved on one side and straight on the other, just perfect for scraping the bowl of every last drop of cake and brownie mix. Using a rubber scraper gets all of the mix where it belongs in your baking pans and that quantity is what the baking time on boxes of mix are based upon. Too little mix in the pans leads to burnt goods when relying on the stated baking times.

Never use oil when you are boiling pasta. Try not to let any oil get in the pot when you are boiling water to cook your pasta. The oil will transfer to the pasta. This will leave the noodles slick, which means any sauce you put on them later will not stick.

Make hard-boiled eggs using older eggs rather than fresh ones, if possible. Fresh eggs are much more difficult to peel, while eggs that are a couple of weeks old peel much easier. Run the egg under cold water after cracking the shell to help the membrane separate from the egg white.

Add some pizazz to your breakfast eggs with this unique sauce. After making them sunny-side up, use sherry or wine-vinegar to de-glaze the pan. Pour the liquid over the eggs for a delicious and interesting twist to the same old usual egg dish. Eggs made this way are great for dinner too.

When you are cooking pasta, follow this useful tip. Instead of strictly following the instructions given on the pasta box or package, try cooking the pasta one minute less than the time indicated. Then finish off the pasta by cooking it in a pan with sauce for the final minute. Doing so will give the pasta more flavor.

Avoid limiting yourself to white potatoes in your cooking. They are very high in starch and have the least amount of nutritional content of any of the potatoes. Try varieties that come in blue, red, yellow, and orange. You can substitute almost any root vegetable as your usual white potato.

All in all, cooking out of your comfort zone is easier than you think. You have learned some awesome tips on how to cook. Your palate should be well on its way around the world and your cooking skills, much richer. With these recipes and tips, you will soon be cooking like a multicultural pro.

No matter how good a cook you are, nobody has all the answers. Everyone can use some advice to make improvements from time to time. The tips in this article can help you to step up your game in the kitchen. Take a look and see which ones you can incorporate today.

To maximize the efficiency of the cooking that you do, always make your food in large quantities and when you are finished with the meal, store the meats in freezer bags. This will allow you to create a meal the next day for your family that is still fresh and tastes great.

Change from ordinary table salt when cooking, to sea salt or kosher salt. The latter will add a much better flavor to the recipe. While it is important not to over-salt food for health reasons, leaving salt out of a recipe altogether can result in a meal that tastes bland. So seek a middle ground when using this seasoning.

Are you trying to discover fast ways to cook meals that are nutritious for you and your family? For a quick and easy dish, cook frozen or fresh vegetables in the microwave. Add a small amount of water to bowl of corn, green beans, or broccoli to add a quick, side dish of steamed vegetables to your meal.

A coffee grinder isn’t just for coffee. A coffee grinder actually works just as well as a food processor for some jobs. This is especially true with small jobs when you don’t want the trouble of lugging out a huge processor and then having to wash all the parts. Nuts and peppercorns grind perfectly in a coffee grinder, even sugar if you need a quick substitute for powdered sugar in a recipe.

Cook correct portions. Many people cook much more food than they actually need or will even eat. Account for how many people will be eating and prepare the meal accordingly. This will not only save your household some money by cutting down on wasted leftovers, it can also help you eat healthier.

When preparing foods for picky kids, try changing up your presentation. Place foods in unexpected containers like muffin tins or silicone cupcake liners, or cut fruits, cheese and sandwiches into fun shapes to make them more enticing. Eggs can be cooked in a metal cookie cutter to make breakfast more interesting.

When it comes to cooking, try to do all of your preparatory work before you even start cooking. Not only will this make your cooking experience much more desirable and stress free, but you will also look a lot more professional to anybody that you may be trying to impress.

When it comes to cooking it is important to consider the dietary concerns of those who are going to be eating your food. Be sure to check if anybody has sodium or sugar concerns in order to prevent embarrassment on their part from having to refuse your otherwise delicious food.

There is always something more we can learn about food and cooking. The pointers shared in this article will no doubt prove useful to you as you continue to improve your cooking skills. Start trying some of these tips today, and enjoy the fruits of your labors in the kitchen.

Learning to use a stove for cooking and baking is a challenge but doable for someone who has become blind later in life. Here, an instructor works with a client to show how simple raised dots and paint for a dial is enough to cue a person to feel where the correct burner temperature is. This stove also has an accessory large timer with raised numbers to help with a cooking steps.

Many people attempt to cook at some point in their lives, but often, they fail. Their failure may result in recipes not turning out correctly, or even kitchen disasters such as burning food. If this has happened to you, then the cooking tips found in this article should help you.

In order to make the process of cooking easier, you should take to time to make large amounts of meat or vegetable stock and store it in the freezer. Not only is making your own stock less expensive than buying it from a retailer, but it makes it easy to keep a large supply on hand. Simply freeze the stock in small and clearly labeled portions and then take out what you need when you need it!

If you are cooking a meal and it calls for already cooked chicken the best thing to do is to stop at the deli counter and buy a whole already cooked chicken. You can also buy frozen chicken that is already cooked as well. It may be expensive but if you are in a pinch it is good for you.

After you have cooked your favorite pasta, grate fresh Parmesan or Romano cheese on it while it’s still hot and then toss it into your sauce. This will not only act as a great thickening agent, but it will also give the sauce something that it can really stick to.

When it comes to baking, a great tip to follow is to be sure that you bake smaller items at higher temperatures and for less time than larger items. This is important because you will have your food quicker and it will be less dry than if you were to bake it slower.

When you are chopping onions for a home cooked salsa make sure you rinse them. Rinse your onions immediately after you cut them then blot them dry with a napkin. This will remove the sulfurous gas and will make your salsa taste better. This works well for other recipes too.

If you are a big fan of having baked potatoes with your meal but do not like the long cooking time, you should soak them in salt water for twenty minutes before you bake them. They will take only about half of the usual time to bake after being soaked.

When planning a dinner party, prep the food the day before. By preparing it the day or night before, you will relieve yourself of a huge amount of stress, and you’ll have more time for the little details on the day of the party. Your guests will think that you’re just like one of TV’s top chefs!

Get more out of your small kitchen appliances by considering alternate uses for them. Waffle irons can make a great grilled cheese sandwich or sunny-side-up egg, for instance, and your coffee maker make a wonderful stand-in for a kettle to heat water for tea, soup, oatmeal or anything else that you just need to add hot water to.

As stated before, many people attempt to cook, but they often fail. Whatever the reason is for their failure, it can result in some kitchen disasters. Using the cooking tips found in the article above, you can prevent kitchen disasters and improve your skills, making you a better cook in no time.

Cooking Advice To Help You Make Better Food

by admin on January 5, 2013

Everyone loves the idea of sitting down to a delicious home-cooked meal, but with today’s busy schedules, it can be harder than ever to find the time to put one together. Fortunately, help is out there. The tested advice in this article will help you put together healthy meals for your family in a surprisingly, short time.

When baking, here is a tip for eggs and butter. Let your eggs and butter set out overnight at room temperature. Doing so will soften the butter which will make it easier to spread, melt, and mix with other ingredients. The eggs will be easier to beat, and foaming egg whites will be easier as well.

Include onion in your spaghetti sauce, tacos, casseroles or other dishes without displeasing picky eaters by grating the onion before adding it to the pan. The onion will essentially dissolve into the other food, adding great onion flavor without including large chunks. Use a metal box grater for the best results.

Buying pasta sauce that already has vegetables, seasonings, meat, or cheese in it is a great way to save time and money when cooking. There’s a great variety to choose from, and you won’t have to chop up peppers and mushrooms or brown the beef. It’s all in one jar–just heat it up, and serve over your favorite pasta!

To make the perfect pasta, cook it one minute less than what you read on the box and cook it the rest of the way with the sauce you are serving with it. This ensures that you do not overcook the pasta if you were to toss it in with the sauce after you cooked the pasta until it was done in the pot of water.

Clean up made easy! Don’t make washing up a chore – if you have a dishwasher you really don’t need to hand wash the dishes first. Simply rinse off the large chunks of food with warm water. The hand-washing detergent used on dishes can leave a film inside your dishwasher. Load the machine according to the manufacturer’s instructions, turn it on and relax!

If you are deep frying, make sure to use tongs to add the food to the hot oil. If you submerge the food below the surface of the oil with the tongs for about five seconds before you “drop” it in, the outside of whatever you are deep frying is sealed. This prevents it from sticking to other food in the oil.

Rice is a great carbohydrate and very inexpensive. Pasta and bread are three times as much per pound than rice. Investing in a rice cooker is well worth it. Use rice as you would orzo or other short pastas.

As you’ve seen, cooking a delicious meal for your family doesn’t have to mean spending hours slaving away in the kitchen. There are any number of recipes you can use to whip together a great meal in a short time. Just remember what you’ve learned from this article and soon your family will be enjoying the fruits of your labors.

When people start thinking about skills they would like to learn or or learn more about, one of the things that usually comes up is cooking. If this sounds like you, then you have come to the right place. This article will help you on your journey to becoming a chef.

Do not over-season foods before you cook them. Often seasonings intensify as a food item cooks. Adding too much seasoning early on, even if the blend seemed to be good at first, may cause the food to become overly salty or spicy. Instead, add just a little bit of seasoning and taste while cooking. You can always add more seasoning later if you feel the flavor is not strong enough, but you can’t take seasoning away if there is too much.

Read the recipe fully before you begin any cooking endeavor! Just reading the list of ingredients does not ensure that you are fully prepared to complete the meal. There are many different techniques and tools that may be required so do not be too ambitious when tackling a new recipe.

Don’t be afraid to play with recipes and change the ingredients you don’t like. Recipes are not the Bible; they are simply guidelines for preparing a dish. If you do not like an ingredient like oregano for example, replace it with thyme. Most of the time, the dishes flavor is preserved, and you’re happier knowing you don’t have to eat something with a flavor you dislike.

A good tip to do when it comes cooking and preparing food is to prepare all the necessary ingredients that you need at night, that way when morning comes you are not stressing about them. This will help you concentrate at the task at hand which is preparing food in the best way possible.

If you’re tired of sautéing the garlic, only to have it burn, try slicing it into strips instead of mincing it. It is much less likely to burn that way and you can always cut it down into smaller pieces after you have finished the sauté, if you need to.

After you have cooked your favorite pasta, grate fresh Parmesan or Romano cheese on it while it’s still hot and then toss it into your sauce. This will not only act as a great thickening agent, but it will also give the sauce something that it can really stick to.

Avoid cooking soggy rice. When you are cooking rice, place a folded towel between the lid and the pot. When the rice steams, the moisture it creates will be absorbed by the towel and won’t drip back into the rice. Cook the rice for the recommended amount of time, and you will have perfect rice every time!

As you can see, learning to cook is not as hard as it may seem. By following the tips listed in this article, you can learn to become the best chef you possibly can. Your friends and family will appreciate the great meals you prepare for them by following these tips.

Whether you are teaching your children to cook or just looking for ways to maximize your own time in the kitchen, use these tips to help with meal preparation. Creating delicious and nutritious meals for yourself and your family can be easy and fun for everyone who is included in the cooking process.

When pressing sticky ingredients into a pan, such as marshmallow treats or cheesy casseroles, coat the back of a spoon with non-stick cooking spray before using it. This prevents the goo from sticking to the spoon and makes it possible to evenly smooth the food into the pan. You can reapply spray as needed.

Use your microwave to melt chocolate instead of slaving over a double boiler. Just be sure to stir it often to prevent hot spots or scalding, and do not nuke it for more than 30 seconds at a time. You can use your melted chocolate for frostings, candy coatings, and drizzling over fruits or brownies.

Make sure that if you are planning a party with friends and family, to have each course planned out in advance. You should have an appetizer course, salad course, main dish and dessert. Breaking your meal into courses will give people a chance to digest and appreciate what you have cooked for them.

When cooking on a budget, make Mexican meals your friends. Tortillas, beans, rice, and onions are inexpensive and filling, and can serve as the foundation for a variety of meals, including tacos, enchiladas, and salads. You can also use whichever meats are most inexpensive, plus veggies like tomatoes, avocados, corn, and peppers.

If you are cooking for someone important, such as a new boss or for a dinner party, don’t use a new recipe and a new ingredient. Make sure you practice the dish first for your own family. Play around with it to make sure it is how you want it.

If you want a delicious meal with little effort, try a roast dinner. Simply chop up some vegetables: carrots, potatoes, onions, and peppers all work well. Add a piece of meat with a little oil and seasoning. Roast at 400 degrees for about an hour, or until the meat is thoroughly cooked. That’s easier than you thought!

While it is very convenient to cook meats in a slow cooker, it is important that you are very careful or you can be at risk. Any meat that you plan on adding to a cooker needs to be browned first so that it reaches food-safety standards for temperature.

Keep greens like arugula and herbs fresher longer by wrapping them in a damp paper towel and placing them in a zippered storage bag in the refrigerator. This technique keeps the leaves from shriveling and drying out, and may extend the life of your herbs or greens for an extra four days.

Leverage some or all of the tips in this article to help you prepare great meals for your family. Whether you are cooking a quick meal after a long day or a large meal for guests, use the tips provided in this article to best leverage your time and ingredients, in the kitchen.

The smell of a tantalizing aroma, wafting in from the kitchen, is an odor that many people enjoy. Preparing and consuming a healthy, well-cooked meal can be incredibly satisfying. Whether you’re new to the world of preparing your own meals or have been cooking for years, we think this article will be helpful to you.

Cook fish on a plank! Use a cedar plank to replicate the taste you get in expensive restaurants right on your campfire. Clean your freshly caught fish and split them open so they are less than one inch thick. Tack the fish to the board and position it beside the campfire so it absorbs the heat of the fire but is not so close that the whole thing catches fire!

A good tip to do when it comes cooking and preparing food is to prepare all the necessary ingredients that you need at night, that way when morning comes you are not stressing about them. This will help you concentrate at the task at hand which is preparing food in the best way possible.

Get all your prep work done the night before you plan to cook a big meal. Getting the most time-consuming part out of the way helps alleviate stress during the actual meal preparation. In addition, your family or friends are sure to be impressed with the speed with which you whip up a culinary masterpiece!

Put salt on your cutting board. It can be difficult to cut herbs on your cutting board. They tend to go all over the place. To keep this from happening, just sprinkle a little salt on your cutting board before you begin. This will work to keep them from slipping around.

Sometimes it can seem like a good idea to pile on all of your ingredients into the pan to save you time from having to cook them all separately. However, this can only prolong the cooking process since most foods need room to breathe in the pan to cook properly while soaking up the spices. Take the extra bit of time to cook them spaced out properly in the pan and you’ll have a better tasting dish.

When you are going to be baking and the recipe calls for eggs, take them out of the refrigerator beforehand – the night before if you can. Using cold eggs may cause your batter to curdle. To quickly bring the eggs to room temperature soak them in a bowl of warm water.

Learn to make a good roux for top-notch cream sauces, gravies, soups and more. Begin by melting a few tablespoons of butter in a saucepan, and add just enough flour to soak up all of the melted butter. For recipes that call for a blonde roux, add liquid just after the butter is absorbed by the flour. For a darker roux, which imparts deeper flavor, allow the flour and butter mixture to cook a bit longer, stirring constantly.

Great cooks aren’t born, they’re made! Learning about effective cooking tips and techniques can be invaluable, whether you’re newly starting or have been cooking for years, plus you can save a good deal of frustration in the kitchen. So put on your chef’s hat, get your heating pads ready and go create a meal worthy of…you!

I thought I would give this utensil set a try because of the price, and I should have known by that that it would be too good to be true. The handles are flimsy and come off easily. One of the spoons melted. The only reason I gave it two stars was because of the grater, pizza slicer, and peeler, they work well but are a bit flimsy as well.

I have used these a few times and I am not impressed with the quality at all. I cooked a few meals with them and the utensils started to deform.

I washed them in the dishwasher to clean them the first time and all the utensils that had metal showed rust spots on them already.

They are not worth your time or money!

For some people, cooking is a fun hobby. For others, cooking is a necessity. No matter what your specific situation is, learning more about cooking is what will make you become a better cook. The following article is going to provide you with this important information. Use it to your advantage.

Use butter in your cooking instead of margarine. It naturally mixes better in your recipes and contains dairy products rather than vegetable oil so contains health benefits as well. Dairy products are higher in healthy fats and will provide more flavor and natural texture to your food than margarine will.

It is a good idea to cook your green vegetables in boiling hot water. If you place the veggies in cold water and wait for it to come to a boil you will lose a lot of the green color because the chlorophyll in them will leech into the water.

Keep a Parmesan shaker or sugar dispenser filled with flour on your counter or your prep area. You can use the shaker to dust work surfaces when baking or to easily pour out just a tablespoon or two for thickening sauces or gravies without having to drag out the full flour canister.

Never wash chicken or other poultry. Washing it with water doesn’t eliminate the bacteria; washing merely spreads the bacteria around to your sink, utensils, and countertop. To kill any bacteria in the chicken and ensure that it is safe to eat, cook it to an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

When cooking burgers, no matter what the type of burger, it is important to only flip it one time in order to retain all of the juices. If you don’t do this your burger will most likely end up dry and will resemble a hockey puck! Don’t let that happen to your burgers.

When cooking steak, make sure the pan you are using is really hot so that it sears the outside of the meat and keeps all of the juices inside. This will make your steak taste great, and it won’t be dried out, since all of the flavor is still sealed inside of the meat.

Keep your kitchen knives very sharp for both safety and efficiency. A sharp knife is less likely to slip and cut you, and it’s easier to breeze through prep work without dull blades slowing you down. If you aren’t comfortable sharpening your knives, yourself, ask your favorite butcher. They may do it for free or for a small fee.

Here is a great cooking tip to use when you are handling smelly garlic. After handling garlic, simply rub your hands with a piece of stainless steel for 30 seconds. This could be your sink or a doorknob. After doing this, wash your hands with soap as your normally would. The stainless steel helps to remove the odor from your hands.

As was stated above, everyone cooks for different reasons. However, no matter what reason you may have, it is crucial that you know everything there is to know about cooking. 4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting menus, July 15, 2012
This review is from: Fabulous Freezer Favorites - Healthy meals for every day of the week, fixed weeks ahead and stored in your freezer. (Kindle Edition)
This cookbook has recipes that are more complex and somewhat different from what I was expecting when I downloaded it but it looks like there are some good ideas. I am guessing it was written by someone from the UK because of some of the terms that are used.
The Table of Contents reads (for the recipe part):
Monday's suggestions
Carrot and coriander soup
Meatballs in a cream or tomato sauce
Moussaka
Fruit Lattice

Tuesday's suggestions:
Spicy parsnip soup
Vegetable lasagne
Sweet potato and peanut stew
Hand-made ice cream

Wednesday's suggestions:
Sausage and bean soup
Cottage Pie
Meatloaf
Banana bread

Thursday's suggestions:
Quiche Lorraine
chicken, Leek and Mushroom Pie
Goulash
Apple Pudding

Friday's Suggestions:
Lentil and Ham soup
Friday night Chilli (that is how it is spelled in the book)
Lamb Tagine
Raspberry Tart

Saturday's Suggestions:
Vegetable curry in a hurry
Chicken casserole
bolognese for Pasta
Victoria Sponge

Sunday's suggestions:
Chicken broth
Calzone
Fruit Crumble

I haven't made anything yet so the jury is out on how the recipes work but in looking through them they look like they should work. The one thing I noticed is that many of the recipe ingredient lists are rather long so these are not recipes you can make quickly.

For instance the Moussaka recipe is:
1 large potato, peeled and sliced
1 T corn flour (I think this means corn meal?)
2 T olive oil
2 C milk
2 diced onions
1 lb ground lamb or beef
1 chopped aubergine (thankfully my kindle translates that this means an eggplant!)
pinch ground cinnamon
1 tin chopped tomatoes
1 T tomato puree (I'm guessing tomato paste on this one)
1 C Lamb stock or vege stock
bunch fresh rosemary, oregano, thyme & parsley (it doesn't specify how much of each?)
1 beaten egg
4 oz "strong cheese" (I'm guessing aged cheddar might work)
2 oz. parmesan
salt and pepper

Then there are a couple pages of instructions on how to put it together (on my kindle touch - 4th smallest font)

So if you are an experienced cook and don't mind not having completely specific measurements this might be a good addition to your kindle library.

I was so excited to get this book for Kindle (for free!) because I had been wanting to try Freezer Cooking for awhile and here was a book that promoted itself as Fabulous and promised healthy meals every day of the week. After a brief introduction to freezer meals it went into recipes for every day of the week, but the recipes were for about 4 servings and the book tells you to make meals in bulk and then freeze, but it would be helpful if the recipes were for larger servings then. Most of the recipes are not something most families would make, especially with children. Some might, but not most. The instruction on how to freeze the foods is lacking, badly. Other than telling you to get a bigger freezer, date and rotate the foods and to buy some baggies, containers and plastic wrap you get to figure out the rest on your own. Nothing about preventing freezer burn, no tips or suggestions on quantities to freeze for a meal, etc. I was disappointed in this to say the least. You can find better info on the net for free.

Although many of the recipes look interesting, I'm not sure why these recipes are any more suitable for the freezer than any others. Many of the recipes are for very small batches which seems in conflict with the point of the book. The recipe for Carrot and Coriander Soup serves two! Many recipes have no information at all about freezing them.

The cookbook would have benefited from a bit of editing, but it wasn't so bad as to put me off the cookbook. I got a chuckle from the suggestion to bake and then freeze potatoes, then heat them in the microwave. I'm going to take up all that space in my freezer with frozen baked potatoes? Why wouldn't I just bake the potatoes in the microwave in the first place? Then again, I have made up a large batch of Twice-Baked Potatoes and individually frozen them before.

The variety of recipes is very nice, with a wide variety of cuisines represented. Sweet Potato and Peanut Stew will definitely be on the menu this week. Honestly, I didn't come across any recipe that made me think 'ewwww!'

The recipes begin on their own page, and many of the recipes have a photograph accompanying them.

Hint: If you are going to prepare individual or family-sized servings of dishes in disposable aluminum foil pans, ALWAYS put them on top of a sheet of foil on a baking sheet when you put them in the oven. You would be surprised at how easy it is for the foil to be punctured in the freezer. I learned this the hard way. I baked a meatloaf that I had had in the freezer for a month and didn't realize there was a small hole in the bottom of the pan until my oven started smoking. What a mess!
